Straight
Reported in three-dimensional form the representation of St. Michael the Archangel. Michael is among those to whom the Bible expressly attributes the title of archangel, like Gabriel and Raphael, mentioned in the Book of Tobias. The name Michael is derived from the expression “Mi-ka-El” which means “who is like God?”. Archangel Michael is remembered for defending faith in God against the hordes of Satan. Michael, leader of the angels, first standing next to Lucifer in representing the angelic pair, then separates himself from Satan and the angels who work the split from God, remaining faithful to Him instead, as Satan and his hosts plunge into the Underworld.

Verso
The reverse side features a depiction of the prayer to St. Michael. This prayer was composed by Pope Leo XII following a dramatic vision he had on October 13, 1884. The pontiff himself reported that the content of the vision concerned the terrible battle fought between the Church and Satan. Immediately after this experience, the Pontiff composed this prayer, recited after every Holy Mass until the Second Vatican Council. The possibility of individual or communal recitation on one’s own initiative in favor of the Church survives, as recommended by Saint John Paul II in 1994.
