Straight
Three-dimensional representation of the bust of Umberto II of Savoy (Racconigi, September 15, 1904 – Geneva, March 18, 1983). Lieutenant General of the Kingdom of Italy from 1944 to 1946 and last King of Italy, from May 9, 1946 to June 18 of the same year. After the result of the institutional Referendum of June 2, 13 June the Council of Ministers transferred to Alcide De Gasperi, with an act defined revolutionary by Umberto II, the accessory functions of provisional head of State.

Verso
the back shows a representation of the tomb of Umberto II of Savoy, buried in the Abbey of Altacomba, The Abbey was founded in 1125 by Amedeo II and was restored, after having fallen into a state of neglect for a long time, by King Carlo Felice, in an unmistakable Gothic style. Umberto II wanted the royal seal to be placed in his coffin: in this way it is believed that he explicitly wanted to distinguish his dynastic heirs from the civil ones.
